Amid scenes no doubt reminiscent of Beatlemania, tonight at 6:02pm hordes of slavering geeks will be hitting the shops to acquire for themselves an iPhone. In theory, I should be one of them...
In practice however, I shall be otherwise occupied. Recently I did upgrade my mobile to a Nokia N95. This is an absolutely stonking piece of kit - it does much more than the iPhone, such as GPS for example, has a much better camera (Zeiss lens, 5 megapixels) and the phone's free on a £30/month contract.
By comparison, the iPhone costs £269 on a minimum £35/month contract. Talk about paying for a name...

It was 50 years ago today...
...that the USSR launched Sputnik 1, the first ever artificial satellite. Given how important mankind's eventual move into space will be, why is this anniversary being given so little attention?

I'm Back !!
For near on half a year, I haven't posted to this blog. There's a good reason for this - my beloved employers started to block access to Blogger from the internal network and after a hard day slaving over Cisco's finest products, I tend not to go near anything in any way connected with silicon chips once I get home.
Now, though, I've just noticed that I can get back onto Blogger from here, so it's time to get going on the blogging!
